Side Hustle Saturdays #10: 7 Truths Successful Writers Don’t Tell You
Hi friend,
I'm tired of seeing online folks lying about stupid things.
Yes, it’s doable to be a writer today thanks to the internet. But it isn’t as rosy as some people make it sound.
Here are 7 short truths they don't tell you:
Writing is probably not for everyone. It's a skill like other skills. For e.g. coding isn't for me.
Every day is about not giving up. When I started on Twitter last year, it felt like I'm talking in an empty room for the longest time.
You have to enjoy the process.Showing up every day feels effortless instead of a burden. Also, writing becomes easier when it’s delightful.
It’s easier to write when you’re writing frequently. And you get better in that process too.
Overnight success? People call ME this sometimes and they don't know that I've been:
writing since I was 7
writing online since I was 18
Online writing is a HUGE game of consistency.
The truth is — we’ve all got better at writing by writing. That's the only 'secret sauce'.
I hope this was helpful. :) And with digital writing, it feels empty for a long long time till it suddenly takes off.
So don't lose hope.
